However, no final legislation has been adopted yet as the European Council is still calling for Article 27a to be retained.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.vecteezy.com\/system\/resources\/previews\/015\/309\/579\/non_2x\/european-union-waving-flag-realistic-transparent-background-free-png.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.5102379793235774;width:250px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#001a5c\"><br>The European Parliament, the European Council and the European Commission will negotiate the matter and take the final decision soon.<br>Reminder: on 7 January 2026, the European Commission and EU ministers discussed the possibility of lowering prices for fertilizers and, therefore, easing pressure on European farmers. Thus, the officials of France and Italy called for the exemption of fertilizers from the bloc&#8217;s carbon border tax, which came into force on 1 January 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#fff4d6\"><br>\u2018Members of the European Parliament managed to adopt a balanced solution.
