Egypt imposes temporary export duty on nitrogen fertilizers | Egypt

The country’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade has recently introduced a temporary export duty of $90/t on all Egyptian nitrogen fertilizers, including prilled and granular urea, CAN, AN, UAN, and AS. The measure comes into force on 5 May 2026 and will remain in effect until 4 August 2026.
Market sources indicate that domestic natural gas supplies are currently sufficient and that producers are operating at full capacity. Nevertheless, WFM believes the measure is designed to safeguard domestic fertilizer availability as a precaution against any potential production disruptions in the near term.
